What needs to be said about Slashdot, the granddaddy of all tech news sites? I have a profile here but I don’t comment very often so this is a pretty static display. But it is still nice to have.

Kevin Rose has always described the inspiration for digg as Slashdot meets del.icio.us. What he didn’t expect was how fast the site would grow. There are still a lot of advantages to using del.icio.us and the tagging system it offers. But if you are in a hurry, nothing works better than clicking a button and instantly digging a story.

Newsvine was the first site that ever sent me an unsolicited invitation. So I will always have a fondness for it. It is also a great place to catch up on the latest headlines quickly. I do make a point to avoid most of the political discussions, though.
