For many years, I used my customized Excite! account for my start page. And for the most part, it worked out pretty well.

Lately, though, I have found that Protopage works well for me. It has the right balance of features and usability. And I have lots of important links stored away on private subpages. There are a lot of competitors in this area, but this one is the best I have found for me.
