Google Reader - Michael K Pate's shared items

I have been a heavy Bloglines user for the last few years. I had tried Google Reader before but there were several things I was never quite happy with, so I decided to stay with that.

But I have grown a little weary of Bloglines eternal beta test period for the new version. And it seemed like a good time to try something new again. Whether or not this will last, we will all have to just wait and see.

Michael Pate on Ma.gnolia

If I had discovered Ma.gnolia before (it certainly looks a whole lot nicer), I am sure I would use it a whole lot more.

As it is, though, I really haven’t used the account very much. Perhaps that will change in the future. Only time will tell.

digg / michaelkpate / news / dugg

Kevin Rose has always described the inspiration for digg as Slashdot meets What he didn’t expect was how fast the site would grow.

There are still a lot of advantages to using and the tagging system it offers. But if you are in a hurry, nothing works better than clicking a button and instantly digging a story.

michaelkpate's Bookmarks on Delicious

After I signed up for my account on, it took me a while to really start using it. Now I can’t imagine having to live without it. The ability to create a bookmark on one computer and easily access it on another is so powerful that it has really changed the way I do a lot of things.

One tip: The Firefox add-on. The easier is to use, the more you will use it, and the more you will see how useful it can be.

Update: The new service, launched a few hours, has a new look and a new url: I haven’t really explored the functionality yet but I except I will over the coming months.
