Google Reader
I have been a heavy Bloglines user for the last few years. I had tried Google Reader before but there were several things I was never quite happy with, so I decided to stay with that. But I have grown a little weary of Bloglines eternal beta test period for the new version. And it seemed like a good time to try something new again. Whether or not this will last, we will all have to just wait and see.
Ma.gnolia
If I had discovered Ma.gnolia before del.icio.us (it certainly looks a whole lot nicer), I am sure I would use it a whole lot more. As it is, though, I really haven’t used the account very much. Perhaps that will change in the future. Only time will tell.
digg
Kevin Rose has always described the inspiration for digg as Slashdot meets del.icio.us. What he didn’t expect was how fast the site would grow. There are still a lot of advantages to using del.icio.us and the tagging system it offers. But if you are in a hurry, nothing works better than clicking a button and instantly digging a story.
Bloglines
I tried various feed readers over the course of several years and the closest solution I found to something I liked was Firefox Live Bookmarks. But those were pretty limited. Since I switched to Bloglines, though, I have the solution that seems to work best for me. I still think there is room for improvement, but I don’t see myself switching to anything else for a long time.
Delicious
After I signed up for my account on del.icio.us, it took me a while to really start using it. Now I can’t imagine having to live without it. The ability to create a bookmark on one computer and easily access it on another is so powerful that it has really changed the way I do a lot of things. One tip: The Firefox add-on. The easier del.icio.us is to use, the more you will use it, and the more you will see how useful it can be. – Update: The new service, launched a few hours, has a new look and a new url: Delicious.com. I haven’t really explored the functionality yet but I except...
